The educational research work undertaken by Mark has been central to the design and delivery of many University of Liverpool Student Experience projects, including influencing the University's 2020-25 Access and Participation Plan and the University's community/civic engagement strategy.
As part of the civic engagement strand of his work, Mark is currently leading on reinstituting the Annual John Hamiliton Lifelong Learning Lecture.
In October 2024, the lecture series will relaunch with ‘Class dismissed? Work and inequalities behind the scenes of British TV and Film’ - at which Beth Johnson, Professor of Television and Media at the University of Leeds, will explore the persistent socio-economic inequalities that shape the British TV and film industries, focusing on the barriers faced by individuals from working-class backgrounds.
